It's not what you do for you that matters either, but what you do for others and how your existence and your generosity of spirit makes them feel.
The LOVE you show is what you know will come back to you...perhaps then easing YOUR life when you most need it.

Picture someone comforting a lost or sick child. Or a friend holding you in times of great stress. Maybe just getting a hug from someone JUST BECAUSE...
Sweet moments, to be sure. But IF YOU can be or ARE someone from whom others derive inspiration, hope, and pleasure...that is the greatest thank you. The best way of knowing you are recognized and appreciated for the person you are inside. It is also the surest way to know that when you leave?
Others will indeed notice, and so will your God.

I LOVE listening to a beautiful song, true. But I would much rather BE one. NOT just for the applause at the end but to see the look on the faces of those listening whose lives and hearts I have touched along the way.
Nothing thrills me more than a smile I caused, a laugh I created in someone else, and a look of acknowledge that I have today fulfilled my mission...make things better, just because.
